Christmas!!!! And random stuff XD

So, long time since I last posted I know. Nothing much to say mah... :P Anyway! Christmas is coming!! WOOHOO!! That means presents!! You have to admit, you look forward to the presents also right?? I remember last time when I was just a kid(the most cliche term ever used by adults), I wanted toy guns and swords for christmas. And in the end I play for a few days sian liao. Waste money hor? Now right...just buy my clothes can already, or better still gimme money I buy my own stuff :D Easier for both my and my family.

So yes I know a ton of kids, teens and adults also will be buying iPhone 5, or the new iPad or iPad mini or Samsung S3, or Samsung Galaxy Tab. You know...those cool gadgets that 5 year old kids are playing with nowadays. I 5 year old that time hor, sit on MRT my only entertainment was looking outside the window there for fun, now leh? Can see 5 year old kids got "babysitter".

Not that I'm complaining, generation difference...it's the holidays anyway! Must spend abit more right? And yes I know abit the late but I want to say grats to all those P6s who did well for their PSLE and for those O Level students who are waiting for their results which will come out in about 2 months time I think? But it's the holidays now so don't worry and be happy!! Go have fun and stop being so stress about school cos there's no more school for the time being!! Hahahahaha!!

No, Santa Claus doesn't exist but I think we can trust Steven Lim to come up with some weird weird idea for Christmas, maybe he give everyone in Singapore free eyebrow plucking service...I just don't want him to offer free music concert for Singapore. Or maybe the adults will all get year end bonus from their boss or something. And the kids of course benefit lah cos their parents got more money buy iPhone 5 for them!

So, another blog post ends here, I know not many people read but I still find it fun! So, yea if you got anything to say can just comment, so far I only got one comment very sad leh... T.T. So yes PRIEST enjoy your holidays, I know many of you or most of you already started long ago since well, exams ended long ago but still enjoy Christmas and Happy New Year in advance!!

I'll probably be blogging again during New Year, or 21st December 2012...

Peace out!

What I think about Amy Cheong...

Ok so I think all, if not a very large majority of you already know about the Amy Cheong incident that went viral on Facebook and Twitter. So in this post I'm just gonna talk about, I'm not gonna make any raciust remarks don't worry.

Firstly, Amy Cheong is DEFINITELY in the wrong, I'm not going to deny that, it's very obvious. She made a racist remark on facebook and that is down right wrong, especially in a multi racial country such as Singapore. She probably did it on impulse, most people do that, vent our their frustrations on facebook. The difference is this time she made a racist remark in the post. Which...well, pissed of ALOT of people, Malays and non Malays alike. Things like this get viral very fast.

Many people are cursing her on twitter, you can see it if you go search Amy Cheong on twitter. They are calling her all sorts of vulgarities and making jokes out of it. Honestly I don't see a point of doing that, I mean it's alright if you're angry with a person. But, cursing at her, calling her a bitch and such won't help solve the problem. In fact it may just worsen the situation. If you really want to post something please make sure it isn't full of vulgarities, because that basically helps to add oil to the fire or whatever. If you really have nothing good to say just don't say anything, even if you're damn mad, cursing won't take away what Amy said.

Singapore's culture is such that we have many different events/practices carried out by the different races. Chinese, Malays, Indians, and other races each have their practices which are a tradition. Just because you don't like or don't understand their practices doesn't give you a right to insult or bad mouth their race. Singapore is a multi racial society so we have to learn and accept others practices and customs. The good thing is this incident didn't affect the racial harmony in Singapore.

Also please don't think the entire chinese population of Singapore is racist, cos we aren't, sure there are some, Amy Cheong being one, and also Eve Tan. But majority, or should I say almost all of us are not racist. True, we may complain about it, being Singaporeans and all.

Lastly, a recent news came out that Amy Cheong has been fired from her post of Assistant Director of NTUC for "her racist remark on facebook". Now some people think that this isn't enough as a punishment for her and some others think they were too harsh on her. Now I ask you, even if she was punished more harshly would that make a difference? I think that the outrage on twitter is enough to teach her a VERY GOOD lesson already. I'm sitting on the fence for this, NTUC has it's own way of dealing with staff. She has learned her lesson, and also she has been a very good example as to what happens to you if you make a racist remark online. I think we should all learn from this incident...seriously. Bad things happen to racist people, even worse in Singapore.

That's all, feel free to leave your comments or what not, but please don't curse or whatever.

Peace out!

The End....of the year is coming.

Ok so I know I haven't made a post in a long time....This is what happens to many blogs out there, mine included. Anyway it's September now, not long till the end of this year...and the world. Nah I kid, 21 December 2012 isn't going to happen. Well there WILL BE a December 21st but nothing special is going to happen on that day probably except I'm going to get a hangover, just kidding.

Anyway this whole year has been pretty rough, all the news about people drowning themselves in "you know where" Reservoir....and...well a ton of other stuff like the rumor about PSLE being removed, and the amount of controversy related to that. I mean those who have taken PSLE take already what, still complain? They're still going to have an exam for Primary Schools, I hope. Don't want the younger generation to have too good a life *Evil Laughter.

The Lantern Festival is coming up! Who's excited? :D When I was a kid (cliche much yes), I used to walk around my neighborhood and play with the paper lanterns. It was just about the only time of the year I got to play with fire O.O except for birthdays that is. I hate mooncakes though, because it's a CAKE. No but really I'm not a cake fan, I don't like sweet stuff. That's one of the one million facts about me. Last time mooncake had less than 10 flavours now they have over 100(maybe?), and not all of them are even nice. have you tried eating DURIAN mooncake?? Ugh...

Yes I know alot of people are mugging like siao, based on the amount of "mugging" tweets I get on my timeline. Eh mug then mug lah must post on twitter meh? :P Jokes aside wish all of you good luck for your exams, PSLE O/N/A Levels or whatever. After the exams can throw all the books away burn all the exam papers!!

Anyway the latest news in case you dunno yet, is that the Budget Terminal is gonna zao from Changi Airport and a new Terminal 4 is going to be made. Idk if Terminal 4 is budget or not though, if not budget then really suay lah cos everytime go overseas don't even have a choice to go by budget airline or not. Go near countries like Hong Kong or Thailand also must go my SIA or Qatar or whatever.

Long post wow....alright if you're still reading this by now just wanna say thanks for all my followers on twitter and those that actually read this blog! I actually didn't think this blog would actually be this good o.o

Peace Out! (Or in...)

iPhone? Or Android?

Ok so personally, I'm an Android user, and I like android too, for certain reasons. I don't deny that being an iPhone user does have some advantages, but I do have certain reasons why I prefer Android. Firstly, it's...more durable. You know that someone drops an iPhone they get freaked out and start saying like "OMG PLEASE DON'T BE SPOILED PLEASSSEEEE"? Yea? I hear that alot. For android users, you drop your phone, you pick it up and walk away without giving a fuck. True story.

Another thing is that a iPhone CANNOT be dismantled. Meaning, if lets say there's a problem with the hardware(a hardware is something inside the phone itself, FYI), you have to buy a new phone. Because even if you send it for repair, there's no way they can "take apart" the iPhone without breaking it. Have you seen a iPhone use taking out the cover of the iPhone? Once your iPhone is screwed, ITS SCREWED.

Thirdly, iPhone apps in the app store need to be paid for. I know of many people who jailbreak their phone just to get the apps they want for free. Most of the "paid" apps on iPhone are actually free for Android. One thing I don't like about Android though is that when a game/app gets released on iPhone, it doesn't mean that the Android store(Now called Google Play) will also have it. It takes some time for the company to release it on Android too. Like for Temple Run, I didn't get it on my phone until about quite a while later. And even after I got it, it lagged pretty badly. Other games like Tap Sonic were released also later. Games like O2 Jam U, if you know about it, is a new game for iPhone users, and I'm still waiting for it to get on Android. However, most of the Apps/Games in Google Play are free. And if I want to get a "paid" game for free. There's something called "APK" Android Package File, it allows me to get the game for free without hacking my phone. And yes Android phones can be dismantled without destroying the whole phone.

This is just my view, but I think everyone has their own opinion, the iOS for Apple is very good and I don't deny that. But it seems that the two biggest competitors are Android and Apple. Nokia uses Windows as an OS, and other phones like HTC/Sony/Samung uses Android. Majority of my friends and family still use iPhones, but...I think Android is catching up pretty fast. Just saying.

Anyway that's all for this blog post, I know I was pretty technical(maybe?) and don't hate on either Android or Apple, they're both great companies and they both changed the way we look at phones. Maybe if their companies merged it would be called AppDroid? LOL idk but I don't think that's gonna happe, rivals will stay as rivals. Anyway that's all for this very long post. Sorry if I bored you but yeah...Peace out for now!

That day when school has to reopen....

Even though I'm not Primary or Secondary School anymore, trust me, I was once there and I know the feeling of going back to school after a holiday. No matter if the holiday was only one week or 10 months, still SIBEI SIAN. Then school also this retarded thing called holiday homework which doesn't make any sense at all, it's like asking you to home school lah, sort of. And it's also kinda dumb that they expect you to complete so much work in such a short time. I remember how I used to rage on the last day of school holiday and then SUA I'm going earlier tmr to copy. I think everyone still does that yea? Pity those who actually do the work until late at night then in the morning everyone just copy their work. But hey, those people smart right? So anyway, good luck for tmr guys! Don't be too sad, sad also no use. But who am I to say anything? But you can see your friends again right? And also your teachers...*cough*cough. They should really extend the holidays lah, Singapore too stress already lah, I see all of you on twitter like really CMI liao all complaining haven't do this haven't do that :P But nvm it's just homework worst case really jialat then just go detention loh. Not as if you guys haven't at least kena detention once right? I bet all of you at least kena once. If not then you either damn lucky or chiongster. Alright I think I say enough already, make your even more sian. (SORRY SORRY) Peace out!

HOLIDAYS!!

Ok I know all Primary to Secondary students are still having school so sorry if this makes you jealous :P Anyway, my exams are over! 2 papers isn't alot actually....(I'm such a slacker). And now, my holidays are officially here! Not that I didn't treat every single day as a holiday anyway, but yeah I'm basically free for the next 6 weeks or so? Then I have to get back to school :(. No complains though because I know many people are worse off then me XD. I made myself a promise that I would excercise during these 6 weeks! I haven't been working out for a long time and my muscles are all gone! Laziness has come from sitting in front of the computer all day long and going out to play sports is pretty....hard for me to do. But I shall try! Anyways good luck for you school and exams (if there are any!) and best of luck for those who have their major exams e.g PSLE or O/N/A Levels. All the best and look to forward to the holidays following your hard work! Remember that your fruits of labour will be rewarded!

Singaporeans ARE helpful.

So yes, many foreigners may have the impression that Singaporeans are pretty self centered. in fact we ourselves have this impression. There are only a few exceptions out there who actually take the initiative to help others, sad but true. This, is actually the way Asians act. I know many foreigners, e.g. Americans, Australians. They are very helpful, as is their culture. Just to bear in mind that Asians DO help others when they're in need. It's just that we are "paiseh" to actually offer our help for fear of being rejected in public, which is never a good thing. It's just the way our culture works. We do help people when they ask for it, that's a very common sight and I'm sure many of you would have done it before. But, we don't actually look at someone in need and ask "Do you need help?". That just gives the impression that we're selfish. When others look at us they start to badmouth us saying Asians are thoughtless and stuff. I saw a old man having trouble walking once, no one actually stopped to ask him if he was alright and needed any help, I myself am guilty of that. But there was a uncle who actually asked the man if he was injured, and even offered to carry him, I really admire that guy. However, the environment we were brought up in means that we Asians tend to be more conservative, even if we are slowly opening up to western influence....?

Appreciate our lives?

I've always been told to appreciate what I have, a family, a home, a chance to be able to study. To me these things are pretty much a daily part of my life, and I'm left thinking what I would do without them...I know of some friends of mine who don't exactly have a complete family. I think of myself in their shoes and wonder how I would cope with it. The answer? No bloody clue. Yet I see them still enjoying themselves and I find myself kind of reflecting on how I behave. I'm so used to the privileges of daily life that I sometimes forget that not everyone gets to enjoy them. I like to compare myself with others who are better off than me(who doesn't?) and then lament about my own sad life...then I think of other kids/teens who don't even have parents, and have to make a living by themselves. I myself haven't even had actual work experience yet and I find myself complaining about the daily burdens in life. The moral of this story? Learn to appreciate what we have, and try to work towards what we don't. There's always someone in a worse situation than you.

Exams.....sigh

I really really really hate exams...There's so much to study and that's not all, you HAVE  to remember the formats for writing and formulas for maths and science. From Primary to Secondary school, students have to take more than 30 exams in total. That's including prelims and Mid Year Exams. Singapore's education system works that way. We hate it but don't have a choice. But hard work pays off and we do get holidays after our papers. Still, studying for the exams are a bore to many if not all students and it sometimes stresses us up. Not that I'm against it or anything because exams are important to a certain extent. But it's probably the pressure that's placed on the students by parents and teachers that makes it feel much worse. Think of how many exams we have taken in our lives and how we felt going through them. It's a fact that in Singapore you have to have qualifications to earn a living. For those with major exams such as PSLE or O/N Levels wish you all the best!

Public Holidays!

Loving the public holidays in Singapore! New Year, Chinese New Year, Good Friday, Labour Day, Vesak Day, National Day etc...and yet we still complain about not enough breaks! :P I suppose that's us being Singaporeans. Hari Raya Puasa is today! I really admire my Muslim friends that are able to fast from morning to night, something that I find hard to do since I love to eat :P. It doesn't help that people eat in front of them while they're fasting! :o Luckily they don't mind or else....anyway I've always had a confusion between Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji...but I think that's cleared up now. Anyway for the rest that aren't celebrating this festival enjoy your one free Monday! It's better than going to school so don't complain! Take this chance to wake up later anyway!

First Post

The little red dot, Singapore. Hobbies? Eating, sleeping, shopping, complaining, unique in our own way. Singlish as the unofficial official language. Why start this blog? Just to have my take on life in Singapore. Although it's small there are many things to do here. The food is great and so are we, Singaporeans. We may complain but it's just part of life. As small as our country is we do have our fair share of excitement, gossip and local talents. This blog is just starting.....more is to come. :)
